I decided to venture into the City of Philadelphia again for Restaurant Week. This time we chose Amada Restaurant. This Spanish Tapas restaurant gets high marks for all the reviews I read and it was a good opportunity to try some different food on a fixed price menu.

Amada’s take on Restaurant Week was choices from all the different courses. Each diner was able to chose two items from the First Course, two items from the Second Course and a desert. Since I had two friends with me (Kim was not able to make it) we could really vary what was we could chose from and have lots of variety. From what I can remember, we had the octopus, garlic shrimp, and prosciutto ham and winter melon. With three people ordering 4 different items, we had twelve different items on the table at one time. Quite a choice of things. Some were good, some were not.

We had some of the cheese and crackers, not my favorite. The ham and melon was excellent. The garlic shrimp was also quite good.

For desert, I had some type of chocolate cake. It was good, not great.

For Restaurant Week, I was happy. The menus during the time are usually muted and boring. Amada had a great menu that offered the diner a great variety with alot of fun dishes. I think it sparked my curiosity to return to Amada and try it during the regular hours.

The decor and service was great. The waitress didn’t laugh at many of my jokes, but this is nothing new to me so I won’t lose any sleep over it. The decor is nice, classic, simple and dark. I liked it.

Take a run over to Amada. Treat yourself to some great tapas, have some sangria and enjoy the meal. I did.
