We decided to try this restaurant with another couple during Philadelphia’s Restaurant Week. This is a great deal if you want to try a new, possibly expensive restaurant for a fixed amount of money. The menu selection was pretty good, but not great. There was about 4 of each, appetizer and main course and 2 deserts. I chose the she-crab soup for a starter, the grouper for the main and a chocolate cake for desert.

Overall, not bad. The soup was creamy and tasty but not chock full of chunks of crab the way I would have liked it. The grouper had a Indian overtone to it, which was tasty but often overpowered the taste of the fish and rice. The basmati rice was very tasty but it was not completely cooks and had many hard kernels in it. The desert was quite good a thick, chocolate cake.

The location of the restaurant is great. It features incredible views of the city of Philadelphia (19th Floor of the Bellevue) and the service and decor was top notch, but the food was a bit disappointing. The wine selection was huge, with prices ranging from $30 to above $300.

I also went to XIX Nineteen for restaurant week. I must agree the service was excellent. However, I can tell I enjoyed my meal more than you. We went what was recommended by the staff. Next time try their Grilled Spanish Baby Octopus (excellent), and their Monkfish Loin, or Stewed Lamb both melted in our mouth.
