Overall, I think we had an alright meal. Nothing to write home (or write on the web) about, but it was fine. The cheese steak spring roll appetizer was the best part of the meal, it was very good. A bit pricey ($8 for two rolls) but I enjoyed it anyway.

My meal was on special, the red snapper filet. It was cooked fine, but generally boring to taste. I also ordered a side of macaroni and cheese, which is usually excellent at a restaurant. This mac and cheese was not creamy enough for my taste and I was unimpressed.

I had dinner with my brother, his girlfriend and my girlfriend. My brother seemed to really enjoy his meal of Southern Chicken and Ribs, but then again, he’ll eat just about anything.

My GF had the short ribs, which were OK, I tried them and they were good, but again, nothing special.

For desert we shared the fried PB & J, which was not impressive. It pretty much tasted like a PB & J quickly fried in a buttered pan.

Overall, the meal was OK, the beer was cheap (they have a 10 PM to 12 AM late night happy hour) and the conversation was good – I probably won’t be back.

On a side note, this is my first trip back to Northern Liberties in about 2 years and what a difference. It reminds me of New York City, it was a lot going for it and if the influx of restaurants, bars and young people continue, it will certainly be a great place for meals and fun.

I think I’m through with French restaurants. They just don’t do it for me. The food portions are small, they are swimming in heavy cream sauces and I’m generally disappointed. I’ve been to both Le Bec Fin and now Gilmore’s this year and both times I hungered for a big old cheese steak when I left.

I received a gift certificate to this restaurant for some computer work I did for a friend. I probably would not have chosen this restaurant by myself, but the gift certificate made it an easy choice.

This BYOT (Bring Your Own Tequila) is a real find. Located between Drury and Sansom Street, it contains about 25 tables inside and maybe 5 tables outside. I went to this restaurant with 6 other people and brought a LARGE bottle of Jose Cuervo to make the margaritas. They offered both watermelon and lime flavored ‘ritas, which are available in pitchers for the table. I didn’t enjoy the watermelon flavored, but the lime was excellent.

But how was the food, you ask?

We started with the guacamole special, which was very good. When we quickly ran out of homemade chips for the dip, they were quickly refilled. The guacamole was spicy and full of flavor.

But what about the main course, you ask?
Well, that is a tough question. I didn’t like mine very much. I went out on a limb and ordered a Hawaiian fish that I cannot recall its name. The fish was boring and flavorless. But, I tried two other people’s meals and they were excellent. They were spicy, cooked to perfection and were more traditional Mexican fare.

Ok, fine – how about desert?
Again, disappointing. I had the crème brule. Although the taste was OK, there were chunks of something (coconut, maybe?) in the desert which was not very appetizing. I finished it, after all who doesn’t finish desert, but it was not very good.

Overall, I think this place has alot of potential and I would probably go back, if only for the ‘ritas. Order the more traditional meals and avoid the crazy deserts and life will be good. Bring the bottle of tequila and make sure you have a designated driver!

Overall, not very impressed. The dining room is sparse and uninspiring, as is the food. My guest and I shared an order of calamari as an opener, which was very good. The squid was light and fresh, the breading just barely there.

The main course meals were just OK. I had the NY Strip steak, which was done perfectly, but didn’t taste very good. I’m a big steak fan and I always seem to be disappointed by non-Steakhouse meat. I was this time as well.

My guest got the free range chicken, which although was cooker to perfection, was boring and bland in taste. You can do so much with chicken and this fell flat.

For desert, I had the key lime pie which was homemade and very good. She had the coconut cake which, even thought she is a fan, didn’t live up to expectations.

I found some floaters in my water and a table next to me found a hair in the meal. Eh, not a good impression.

It was BYOB, but the inflated prices made the bottle an afterthought. So many great restaurants in Philly, this one was just OK.

Reservations are recommended at this small BYOB restaurant located in the heart of Conshohocken, PA.
This set price meals include an appetizer, main course and desert for $31 a person. Both the portions and selection was excellent and for the money, a great bargain.
I enjoyed breaded scallops that were pan friend and served with a sweet sauce. The scallops were perfectly done but the breading tended to fall off after the smallest of touch. My dining partner had a crab risotto which was think and very good.
