I think I’m through with French restaurants. They just don’t do it for me. The food portions are small, they are swimming in heavy cream sauces and I’m generally disappointed. I’ve been to both Le Bec Fin and now Gilmore’s this year and both times I hungered for a big old cheese steak when I left.
I received a gift certificate to this restaurant for some computer work I did for a friend. I probably would not have chosen this restaurant by myself, but the gift certificate made it an easy choice.
We chose the 6 PM seating, there is also an 8 PM seating. I started off with the Salmon Pastrami, which was tasty but very salty. The included salad was boring and bland, I should have went for the Caesar salad which sounded very good on the menu but I talked myself out of it because there was a salad included. Bad move.
For the main course, I had the Lobster Tail on a cream sauce. The taste was excellent and overall I enjoyed the main course, but it was not enough food. There should have been some type of vegetable included to complement the lobster, but oh well.
For desert I enjoyed the chocolate soufflé, which was excellent and had a hint of peanut butter in the warm liquid center.
Overall, just an OK meal. If you like French in a more relaxed atmosphere then Le Bec Fin, then check out Gilmore’s.
