Wow, what a pleasant surprise. Kim and I had incredibly low expectations on the new SONIC – Drive In that opened in Limerick but we had a pretty good meal.

What we expected was McDonald’s grade food without the McDonald’s grade seating. (obviously, we sat in our car) What we got was a well-made, fresh burger with piping hot onion rings and drinks that were so unique and yummy that I would not not twice about driving to a SONIC just to sample some some different combination of drinks.

We figured out what we wanted from the menu next to the driver’s side (might have been smart to include another menu on the passenger side, but who knows). We pushed the big red “ORDER” button and very quickly a rep came online to take our order. The total listed on a small LCD screen where we also had the option to pay via credit card, which I took advantage of. Why every drive-through doesn’t use a credit card payment at the time of ordering is beyond me. We both ordered pretty simple stuff, 1 cheeseburger with ketchup, 1 cheeseburger with mustard, 1 large onion rings and 2 drinks.

The food arrived within 5 minutes and we dug right in. The burgers were quite good. Almost as good as In-N-Out Burger, which is exclusively on the west coast.

But, most certainly the drinks were the highlight. I had a Limeade and Kim had a Slushy, both included fresh limes and strawberries and both were very refreshing on a hot day.

We are both looking forward to a return trip to Limerick/Royersford for another visit.
