I first need to apologize for the long hiatus from reviewing Philadelphia restaurants.  My girl friend fiance got injured working out a few weeks ago and has been off of her feet.  This, unfortunately, has prevented us for trekking to new and different spots to enjoy some meals.  She was feeling better this weekend so we decided to give Samurai Japanese Restaurant a look-see.
Overall, we had a pretty good meal.  The restaurant had a nice crowd for a hot Saturday night in the middle of June.

We started out sharing the seaweed salad and some edamame both of which were very good.

I decided on the Spider Roll (soft shell crab) which I think is in season and was fresh and good.  Probably one of the best Spider Rolls I have ever had.  I also had the Samurai Maki which was: spicy tuna, salmon & avocado inside, 4 different caviar on the outside.  Lastly, I enjoyed a Tuna and Avacado Maki.  All of my rolls were fresh and tasty.

My girlfriend tends to go with the simple rolls of tuna, whitefish and salmon. I didn’t try any of hers but they looks very good and she had a clean plate by the end of the night.

Since this was one of the first nights out of the house for her, we decided to drop the convertible top and cruise Lancaster Ave.  We passed several Sushi joints, most were not very busy.  Samurai had a steady stream of customers sitting down and getting to-go orders.  I think this was a real winner of the restaurant and if we are ever in the mood for sushi again, I’m sure it will be top on the list.

Parking was a bit difficult and it didn’t help that one of us was on crutches, but we made the best of it.
