Wow, what great hopes I had. Rae Restaurant had such superb reviews but we hardly enjoyed the meals that these folks did.
The occasion was my mothers Birthday we had looked forward to showing her a good time. It just was not to be. We sat down and were quickly served bread and butter. We quickly dug in because we were quite hungry.
We looked at the menus and we quickly had questions on some of the items. Our waiter came over and answered our questions and I asked for the wine list. Fifteen minutes later he came back to take our orders and wine selection.
The wine arrive quickly and was poured. Thirty (yes, 30) minutes later, the appetizers arrived. By this time, we had already torn through all of the bread and half the bottle of wine. I had also decided to time how long our meal would take.
After 25 minutes of additional waiting, the waiter saw that our bottle of wine was empty. He had also noticed that our main courses had not arrived yet. He apologized and said the kitchen was backed up and a manager would be over to talk to us.
Five minutes later, our mains arrived. They were fine, nothing to write home about. I had the horseradish tuna, my GF Kim had the roasted chicken. It was all, just, OK. Nothing to write home about. Kim’s meal was just warm, as was mine. I expected mine to be just warm since it was tuna, but her chicken should have been hot.
For desert, I had the “breakfast” which was a series of sticky buns and Kim had some type of cheesecake, both were good, not great.
So, all in all, it was a major miss. It just was not a “great” meal, the service was horrible and the prices were ridiculously high. It is extremely unlikely that we will ever be back. Blah, what a disappointment.
